I was lucky. I managed to be able to pay my college fees in time. I’m happy I was able to pay them at all. But if I was lucky, many other weren’t. Many relied on scholarships so they could afford their studies. But as of lately, the process to get your hands on one got not only harder, but more and more unfair. Lots of young people like me are now unable to proceed with their studies due to this failed system. Everyone should have the right to an education, but no. I remember reading on the newspapers that, even though some people got these scholarships, their funds were so low they had to starve every few days. What about now? How are they coping with all these cuts? It’s simple: they quit. Just wait another year, or another ten years until you can have your future back.

Ever since I started working – and studying by night – I started to have my meals at the college’s cafeteria (well, one of them, my college happens to have a bunch, but one of them is just the fastest). And I can’t really tell if the hours I pick for my meals are bad, or if I got too used to home food during the summer, but lately, all the food seems to be… Sad. That’s it, there’s no other word to describe that food. Sad it is.
I suppose you can now imagine just how I happy I get on the weekends. I mean, real food!
This one is partially based on a true story, considering it’s not the first time I’ve actually seen someone wearing both the black suit and random unauthorized accessories. Like pink bags or enourmous keychains.
When you’re wearing the Black suit (aka Traje around here), you’re supposed to do it right. And that means no extra accessories – and surely not anything with bright colors, if colored at all. And when you’re wearing it, you should also expect other people wearing it to notice… And if they happen to be in an upper rank, do not expect to go home without a little punishment (it usually includes being spanked with a little spoon, but, in lack of said spoon, with a shoe).
Oh, come on, there’s no pet as hip as an owl! Some people do actually have them as pets… And as the kids figure it’s time for them to take some more responsabilities, maybe a pet is a good choice! Although I would have started with a dog, but a feathery friend might be good as well.
And pets are always good if you happen to be away from home and spending time alone with the studies. They cheer up the place :3
I really wanted to do the MSN chat thingy for a while. It leaves a lot of room for my lazyness; also, since the characters are still on vacations, I assume it’s either by the web or by the phone, so… Cheapest way found!

It is a known fact, or at least I should have make it known, that Angela loves summer and Mikhail loves winter. They’re not meant to have vacations together.
However, when it’s summer there’s nothing you can do. So yeah, Mikhail, if you wanted your “perfect vacations” you should have moved.
I swear I’ll never understand those couples who just spend longer saying goodbye than having the actual conversation. Also, all the loovey-doovey thing. It’s awkward.
Also, do not expect not to be caught when you’re declaring your love via cellphone. Because it will happen for sure. And it will be awkward.
You can expect the summer to be Nikita’s favourite season! Not only he has all the time in the world for surfing and bodyboarding, he also doesn’t have to stand for anybody’s crap.
And although I probably mentioned this before, it’s never too late to call it back again: Mikhail hates the sea. And thus he hates the beach and he also can’t swim. Too bad all Nikita wants to do is being in touch with Mother Sea.Guess that’s bad luck for you, Mikhail.
Oh come on, who doesn’t do that to their beach towels?
But seriously, it’s fun to use the towel like the cloak. Awesome.

There’s always something else to do, an email to check, a paper to pick up, enlargment pills to take. They’ll never let you go. They want your very soul. Think about it, you know it’s true.
And yes, that’s how my College’s inbox looks like. I kinda altered the e-mails so they’d make more sense.

It’s a never-ending stare game! Except that it will eventually end, since we’re 10 min away from the exam’s end.
I bet Telos’ twice as upset because Mikhail is just sitting and staring at him and he’s pretty much done with the exam for a long time.
I should have added “meddling with students on the hallway”, because I can’t remember a single prof not doing that.
There’s been a lot of Mikhal and Angela comics recently .-. But I just like the dynamics of this couple, although I know I should pay more attention to the other characters. Don’t worry, they’re loved too.
Vacations are drawing near. Afaik, another two weeks, at least for me. I don’t know if I should keep the College theme or move into some vacation theme. You help me?
Public Noms, yes. A lot of people consider that a nice thing to do, considering the amount of time they give to that, hum, sport.
Mikhail and Angie were sort of hidding their relationship – and they weren’t that good at it, apparently – but since now Mikhail’s no longer what’s considered around here as a freshman, there should be no reason for hidding, except… That they’re not really into public displays of affection.
They’ll probably just hang around like any two other fellow colleagues, this is, if Angela finds the guts to steal Mikhail from his buds every now and then.
Story of my life.
Suddenly you have a lot of work to do, then you get used to having tons of stuff due everyday and then you have nothing again and it feels like you have… An hangover.
When you’re addicted to something you’ll just look for more. So yah.
Remember when, a long, long time ago, Shizamura overheard something that could have changed a lot of lives, but didn’t?
Yeah, maybe Mikhail should think about how lucky they were that time. But seriously, he couldn’t expect Shizy to believe him; he probably sounded like he had fallen asleep in the bathtub!

Keyo and I have something in common. It’s a nice relationship with work. And nothing gets in between! :D
I’d have to bring the subject back sooner or later. After all, Shizi and Keyo were going through some rough times, as it was somehow stated before and I guess Shizi just coulnd’t deal with some events. Maybe it was for the best.
So yeah, now Keyo’s off to his workaholic self. Nothing more to get in betweem. All straight 100% from now on.
Yes, Clor has a life outside college, tho I have the feeling he met her and dated her in the academic setting.
For those of you who don’t remember this pants-jizzing professor I’m mentioning, here’s a link for you to refresh your memory, so check it out. Also, mabushii is now my number 1 word for describing that nosebleed people get when they think or cross wonderful people.
Although it may look like they broke up because she was Mikhail’s professor, that’s an unfortunate word choice. They actually broke up a long, long time ago.
This one is sort of based on a true story.
I remember that before getting into College, Exams were seen as something really hard and terrible. Pretty much something you’d foccus all your energies on. I know a few people who actually started studying long long before they come – not only they did study pretty much everyday, they also studied with one or two months in advance for the exams.
I don’t think that’s even healthy. Not that it guarantees good results either. I personally am not the studying type (for some things).
On the other hand, after getting into College, the difference is tremenduous. During the first year you’ll still see people trying to study with a few months in advance… Only to notice there’s just too many things to work on and then notice the exams are but a few weeks away. But I know some cases where people actually try to keep the same habbits and not all of them are successful. I sorta of started studying for real only after getting in College and I can’t tell I was proud of my first year’s grades… But things get better.
Actually, it seems people get used to having 5 exams in the same week and sometimes even more than one a day. And they just seem to be able to study months worth of paper in two days and still get decent grades. If not actually good grades. It feels like as soon as you stop obsessing and start seeing exams as nothing more than just another test, thing get better. Much better. t’s much more of a technique thing than dedicated time, actually.
But you obviously can’t trust Clor’s words on this. It’s not like he’s getting out of College anytime time soon either.
If only there was some wind…

The weather’s getting hot. In a few days it’s gonna be June.
Still, you can see people wearing the academic suit – which is black – even tho you could swim in your sweat if you wear it with such weather. Why are people still wearing it?
I think the answer is simple if you think about who’s exactly wearing them: yes, those guys who were freshmen just one month ago. They’re so hyper about being able to wear the suit they now take every excuse to use it. But the weather’s too hot and everybody knows it’s gonna be hard to survive. But they still use it, probably because they just don’t know how uncomfortable they’re gonna be for the rest of the day.
So yeah, if it’s not a special day or something, people wearing this amounts of black with this heat are probably late freshmen.
Also, deep down, Nikita would do an awesome troll senior.
I suppose I’m not sharing exactly the image I wanted about Shizamura, but hey, I need to joke with somebody (and with somebody, I mean, everybody).
Things weren’t alright between her and Keyo for a long time and I really didn’t think they’d make it through. Well, more variety now. Poor Shizy, she couldn’t find a better way to explain just how easily she falls in love.
But I still think her description is quite accurate. Also, every opportunity is a good one to use the words forever alone. Which is pretty much the image everyone seems to have about Angela.
I’m pretty sure Shizy wasn’t the only one having a few too many drinks that night.
I know it might look strange to come back to the Ribbon’s Stories like this, but be prepared for some once in a while. Because there are just too many stories for one week.
Mabushii == wonderful, or something like that.
And that pretty much explains why Mikhail insists on showing up for every damn Algebra class. And also the nosebleed.
I know it’s odd when you find people you just have never seen on their normal clothes doing their normal daily bsns.
I always thought these two looked too much alike ._. Just look at this a nice, black and white find-the-differences.
In case you don’t know, there’s an Academic “party” here in Portugal called Burning of the Ribbons (Queima das Fitas). I think I’ve mentioned it a few times, since it’s one of the most attended parties. It lasts for an entire week, afaik. There are academic activities during the day and concerts at night. Booze is so abundant I wouldn’t wonder at all if some years after some people found out some ghost… And I’m pretty sure it would be awkward. Alternative ending for this comic includes “Good lord, I must’ve been so drunk”. I just found ghost to be a funnier word.
And on the very last day, they fight Bulls. Of course, nobody’s forced to fight anyone. Actually, I don’t even think they have to fight, they mostly just jump around… Or so I hope, since I’m not too fond of bull-fighting.
And apparently so is Clor. Oh, he’s so brave.
And on the seventh day you have two activities: the rally paper, over the city, and the Dancing Tea, which is a party where you dance and have tea (duh).
I like tea, but I wouldn’t dance with it.
Wednesday usually means it’s time for the Tuna’s Festival. For those who don’t know, Tuna isn’t a fish’s name, it’s what you call to a organized group of students devoted to… Let’s call it making music. They also dance and have their own rituals, almost as if they’re separated from the common Praxis.
But since Wednesday comes after Tueseday, which, being the Parade day, leaves everyone pretty tired. And everyone parties too hard afterwards, making them twice as tired. And everyone says the Suit’s shoes (specially the ladies’) are terrible to the feet.
Now it’s hangover tiem.
It’s just so much more wonderful than this little image can tell. Also, on the end of the parade, the freshmen will no longer be freshmen.
Monday is usually the day when the freshmen gather money for charity.
But since I don’t know how to pull a joke out of that, I’ll leave you with a drunken Djeb and a Segmentation Fault.
And so, the Burning of the Ribbons begins!
At 00:01 of the first sunday of May, as usual. The following week is filled with various activities. There are usually no classes on this week so the students can have their time without messing their studies. The first day’s event is called the Monumental Serenade, which is an event where the students sing some Fado with all their might. Of course, there’s more to it than just that, but that’ll do for a short description.
It is also the day when the Godfathers and Godmathers trace their godsons’ cloacks for the first time. And then they’re able to wear the black suit as well! It is usually an emotive moment and I guess Clor’s the most affected around here.
I’ll try to give you one comic for each of the following Burning’s days :D
I know some people really had been named “Anti-Praxis” as their pledge name (considering pledge==praxis, let’s not forget about it :3). But that would be a really nice name for Nikita, specially since he’s always complaining about everything. But I guess that’s the same reason behind “Grumpus”, which would probably be just Grumpy looking Latin. People on the Praxis world love Latin.
I’m pretty sure Clor’s quite embarrassed for not being able to solve that alone :B
And so, another freshman was named!

Also, we never know when the next Senior will show up. But taking a rest by the coffee machine is by far the worst place to hide.
People looove their coffees.
I was informed that yes, their flashy ears are sometimes burnt… And it doens’t always go so well (and I needed an excuse to do Mikhail’s hair as well, perfect timing!)
And we all know Keyo doesn’t fancy Mikhail that much… So yeah, he needed an excuse as well.
And just for the record, that’s Raphael standing there, on the last pannel. He is not a girl, no matter how girly he sometimes looks like. Which apparenly isn’t the case of this comic. It’s been a long time since I last draw him and he needs some love too.
Considering that color TV in Portugal started being broadcasted a mere thirty years ago, that would mean Clor indeed is pretty old. But I think these “Legends” aren’t really in touch with the reality.
But that’s why they’re called Legends, right? :D Clor’s more of a Myth, actually.
Civil – they’re numerous, prolly the most numerous, but not the noisiest. It is said that their musics have the lowest rate of dirty words of the entire Institute. They apparenly like to feel protected (well, they have a brick tied to their necks), hence the helmet.

Clor’s not his real name, it’s the one he’s been giving during his freshman year :D He’s been on that College for so long, people no longer remember his real name and everybody calls him Clor anyway.

Also, they’re not in the cinema, that’s an amphitheater where Theorical lessons go. Sometimes the professors turn the lights down so we can see their projections better. Cinema-ish, indeed.
Electron. That’s what we call Electrotechnical Engineering students (along with all the courses this branch covers – there are many courses covered by the name of Electrotechnical Engineering, but their students are always called Electrons, afaik). This story’s full of Electrons and nobody really knows their specific course… Since it doesn’t really matter much.
It’s a known fact that Electrons are rude, stinky, badass, reply to their Seniors and are probably the worst tempered among the students. They also run around with their pants on their heads. I’d say maybe they are the way they are because every day is pledge day for them; just more opportunities to get pissed.
Yes, they run around the campus with these ears and their heavily dirtied clothes (which probably changed colors some three times by now). They’re sometimes seen running ’round buildings with their pants on their heads.
I hope the socks were comfy.
Even as a Chibi, Clor still looks down to everybody – well, it’s not his fault he’s so tall.

That dark thing in the background – it’s a Piano. Also, paying with books and chicken is always good for people who don’t have money. E.g. college students.
As I have made no special comic for today, I’ll leave you with a beautiful Mechanical Engineering Freshman (aka Piston)! Yes, they use these awesome outfits, I just am not totally sure about them waving tools around. But I’m allowed to dream, right? :]

Yes, the face Clor’s making – that’s how I look when I’m checking my grades. Oh, the suspense.
But this little story doesn’t come out of thin air – whenever I have a test and I am nervous about it, I always hear my mom “pray so you’ll get a good grade”. It’s like I don’t even have to study anymore! :D Sadly, it didn’t work all too well for Clor. You’ll have VIBON again next year, don’t worry.
I don’t have VIBON myself, but I’ve heard it has a huge retention rate. So this scenario mustn’t be as rare as it looks.
I may or may not have developed electric abilities during the past week and I may or may not have used them to kill a specific friend I may or may not have tried to kill before.
Super-powers aside, I’m finally on vacations! I mean, College vacations, ’cause I still have to work :] Which is not so bad right now because I have more time to get the job done – and nicely done too, I like nicely executed things.

Everything you have been thought about the internets is wrong! The internets are nothing but a big cloud you can connect to via cables. There’s always a cable somewhere and there’s always a cloud. That explains pretty much how you can access the internets in so many places.
Recenly the cable is being replaced with a cable made of air.
Also, keys flying out of my keyboard turns out to be a true story. So as the O3O face and the coffee.

OH hai! Sorry for the little delay (oh mies, one day and a half!), but exams come first :3 I’ve been studying almost non-stop, but hopefully things are over now *phew*
So, back to bsns, after having Freshmen running away, it’s time for the mighty Clor to finally tell why he wants Senior Freshness to be back to the pledge.. Becoz he’s slacking!

That’s one of the main things the pledge tries to teach to those who follow it, to be one with the group :3 To achieve such thing, they use many methods – and treating everybody under the same name and punishing the person next to you are just two of them x3 There are more tho, and I’ll try to show them later :3 On the meanwhile, enjoy the eggs and the breaded beefs!!

Finally! :’D Sorry for the little delay on this one, people, I know it was not in time, but there was internet downtime here T_T Also, with the exams coming on next week, it’s funny to have all the stress coming on so quickly :’D aaah, these did not taste like vacations at all, but moving on…
Confrontations, fights, they will be begin! It’s time for the Freshmen to learn quickly how to behave and what they’ll do when they meet the other courses :3 I hope they behave good and leave a good impression! For the time being, I guess it’s just singing, but maybe more will come in the future ;3

Awe, it was really hard to draw Senior Non-Serial with happy face ._. It was beyond what I thought possible Dx and that single last pannel personally killed me, but I guess I made it OwO d
:’D We finally get to know who’s Angela’s Godfather (and I mean Godfather as in, her Pledge Godfather >_>;; ) Guess he ran out of coffee this morning 8D and poor Angela had to wake up, oh she was sleeping so well ^__^

You may notice this is more your “lazy” kind of Doce :3 But I kinda felt there was a need to slow down a little and let the Freshmen talk for a while. And getting around with some little little issues like the Mikhail one on the first three panels and showing finally Raphael (the number 64) without the ears XD I kinda noticed I did never show his head :3
Also, discussing Non-Serial :3 Because he just looks too much “out of normal” for these little peeps here ^^

Bigger page this time! :3 I’m making some more experiments this time, specially because I am a little sad that the story is flowing too slowly… Though I don’t know for how long I’ll be able to keep up this rythm. I mean, I cannot stay up late everynight, I have another life >_>
And now you finally meet some new characters! I know the Sophomores shouldn’t be giving out their nicknames right now, but I don’t think that’s much of an important detail (specially thinking that I loved their nicknames <3). Now behold the cuteness of theirs…

It’s hard to play with the character’s personallities when there’s only one page a week. I wanted to do more, maybe two or three, but I don’t have the time. I’m just happy I found some even to make this page :3 I hope you enjoy it as much as I did >_> That first expression to me is pure awesomeness!! But then again, Mikhail is totaly immune :3
Finally, the story!
Travelling away from home, being on themselves, having to rent a place to live… It’s a whole new life for them :D I hope they get along with their own rules fine ^_^ They’re just not used to it, but I’m sure they will ;)
